James/Kojirou
THE best character in the whole series in my opinion, James is the male member of Team Rocket. And the best-looking guy on the show. He doesn't have that eye problem that Brock seems to have, and he doesn't have the overly-spiky hair that Ash and Brock both have. And I just love his hair color!!!
As far as I know, James only has Koffing (which evolved into Weezing) and Growly, a Growlithe. I understand that at some point he gets a Victreebel, but I have no idea about that. And he technically owns a Gyarados, though it hasn't been seen since he evolved it from Magikarp (by kicking it) and it blew them all away. Too bad. That would've been cool, if he had a -decent- Pokémon. Though I shouldn't be too harsh; Weezing is actually more powerful than Arbok. I looked it up in my players' guide. Still, it's a dang ugly Pokémon. All of his Pokémon are ugly. Why?
I know James' past better than most. He grew up an only child in a rich family. He ran away for a couple reasons: one, he didn't like being part of high society with all the responsibilities and rules; and two, he didn't like his fiancee Jessiebelle. But who WOULDN'T hate her! She's so strict! And his parents aren't all that nice either; they pretended to have died so they could get him to marry Jessiebelle and inherit the family fortune, and all that stuff. Seems a lot like Ranma 1/2, except I think Ranma has more problems.
James seems to be the most pitiful of all the characters... He doesn't seem to be all that smart, and he always seems so negative about what's going on. He always knows their plan's going to fail, and that they'll never succeed in anything. But he's probably smarter than he looks. True, he's come up with some pitiful plans (his "deadly weapon that's been perfected over thousands of years" is a fishing net), but also some decent ones. Unless... of course... those ideas were the ones where he had to cross-dress...
That's one problem of his- he tends to crossdress in several plans. But I won't get into that. I try to ignore it. But it's kinda hard to ignore when he's dressed like Officer Jenny, for example. Or when he's wearing a bodysuit and a bikini-- wait, I'm thinking toooo much about 'missing' episode 18. Never mind!
I think I've finally figured out why I like James so much. One, I've always cheered on the bad guys. Two, he's got that Gourry-like stupidity. (Yes, I like Gourry!!!) Three, he's got that rose thing going on, like Tuxedo Mask or maybe Tatewaki Kuno if you're going for the poetic type. Four, his hair is quite similar to that of Trunks (down to the spiffy color, yet! Trunks was always my favorite DBZ character). Five, he knows when not to do something (it wasn't HIS idea to keep shooting at the Dragonite! He didn't want to keep attacking!). Six, this may seem strange, but I've always liked the cartoon characters that put eating as a top priority. Look, he's always complaining about not having gotten to eat breakfast or something! And I would have tried to eat Togepi, too! Add that all to the fact that he doesn't seem as mean as he appears to be, and it pretty much sums up why he's my favorite. Oh yeah! And I've always liked characters with fangs! Only real reason I can think of why I like Ryoga Hibiki. Brownee had fangs for the first several months when I created her! And James DOES have fangs! Look at the beginning of the ...Brock episode, I think?... and after they cover up the pit it has a big closeup on his face and HE HAS FANGS! I like it... makes him look cooler, I think.
